Why you? | Dangan Ronpa: Asahina x Togami

This wasn’t like him at all.

The blonde male paced back and forth in his room, trying to find a logical explanation as to his sudden, recent feelings towards the female swimmer he had been spending every day with. Here they were, in this God forbidden school with the possibilty of being murdered by a fellow school mate, and all he could think about was her. It infurated him sometimes. He clearly had more important things to worry about, like getting out of this situation alive.

He left his room, quietly closing the door behind him. If he couldn’t think of a solution, he would face his problem head on. That meant finding the brunette and, no matter how long it took or how uncomfortable it made her, he ws stick by her until he worked out what was going on in his head and his chest. That was another matter that angered him to no end – how nervous Aoi had grown around him. No one else had noticed apart from him.

His pace as he walked down the corridor slowed as he noticed he was being followed. Again. He tutted and rolled his eyes – when was Fukawa going to take a hint? Ignoring her had become harder since he started focusing more on Aoi, causing him to become increasingly more irritable when the nervous female followed him – everyone had noticed that, at least.

He came to a full stop and glanced behind him. “I’m going to give you a chance to stay away from me, got it? Stop following me everywhere. Stop being so creepy.” He snapped then continued on his way, ignoring the quiet sobs that left Fukawa as she fell to her knees, watching him leave.

For a brief moment, he was a little shocked to see Aoi wasn’t in the cafeteria, shoveling donuts down her throat faster than he had ever thought possible for anyone to do. He grunted and left the room – there was one other place she could be – the swimming pool. He didn’t particularly like the pool, due to the humidity of the room but if it meant finding her, he’d bear it. Just about.

Aoi had just stepped out of the pool when he entered the room. The brunette gave him a small smile of acknowledgement then headed into the changing room, Togami trailing after her. She wasn’t going to get away from him that easily.  

He entered the small changing room and closed the door behind him. This was a perfect situation for him to figure out what was going on – he couldn’t have planned it better if he tried.

Togami felt Asahina’s blue orbs watching him as he approached her, slowly. Once again, she had grown nervous around him – he could practically feel how she felt. He stopped short of a few inches in front of her and looked down at her. “Why are you so nervous around me?” he asked quietly as he took another step towards her, causing her to back up until her back rested up against the wall.

She was looking up at him with concern, confusion and a hint of curiosity. Why was she looking at him like that? Why did it feel like his heart was going to explode every time she was in his proximity? Naegi once had the gall to tease him about being in love with the female in front of him – he growled quietly at the memory, causing Aoi to tense, her grip on the towel around her torso tightened visibly. He placed his hands either side of her head, keeping her where she was.

So, that was the answer to the question that haunted him. Seeing her cower under his gaze hurt him, only a little. She rarely looked at him with those joyful eyes he had seen whenever she was around either Sakura or Naegi. She rarely spoke to him about the things she enjoyed to do – she probably figured he wouldn’t care and would refuse to listen to her. She probably thought he thought she was beneath him, just like everyone else in this school was.

That could be further from the truth.

He rested his head on her shoulder and heard her gasp when she felt his warm breath on her skin. Of all the people he could have fallen in love with, why did it have to be her?
